Storage Prepper Novice

I so appreciate the information in your article. Especially how to make brown sugar. I am new to long term storage and I have in fact packaged brown sugar and brown rice in #10 cans with oxygen absorbers (in 2017). Should I throw them out or can I open them and somehow salvage the contents?

The brown rice may be fine but you may find the brown sugar tastes a bit "chemical". I don't know exactly how to describe the taste. The only way to know is if you open it and see if it's ruined.
